Northern United Rugby Football Club Inc. was established in 1990, following the amalgamation of the Porirua and Titahi Bay Rugby Football Clubs at the end of their 1989 season.  Northern United RFC is known as ‘Norths’ within the Wellington Rugby Football Union.  The initial playing strip was the Porirua Rugby Club jersey with the Titahi Bay Rugby Club shorts and socks. In 1990, the official blue-and-white playing strip was introduced, which remains prominent 35 years on.

The headquarters for Norths is at Porirua Park, 'Jerry Collins Stadium'. This facility is rated among the top premier grounds in the Wellington competition, second only to the NZCIS and Sky Sports Stadium.

Both the Senior and Junior club players come from all areas of Porirua. The club's success can be measured in several ways. At the grassroots level, our Junior Norths Bulldogs are deliberately situated at the original sites of the founding clubs (Porirua/Onepoto). Onepoto in Titahi Bay, and Porirua Park in Porirua East, to make access to mid-week trainings easier and safer for our whānau.

Combined, we have just over 300 children each year, aged 3 – 13, who participate in rugby around the motū every weekend. The focus of our junior club is to allow our tamariki to learn this great game and life skills while having fun and staying healthy. Our junior club is organised and supported by many committed volunteers, coaches, managers, supportive parents and extended whānau.

In the clubs' short existence, Norths has already developed an All Blacks captain, All Blacks, Junior All Blacks, two IRB Young Player of the Year winners, New Zealand 7s players, Black Ferns, Samoan, Tongan and Cook Island internationalists and NZ Secondary School players. Alongside the players, we have seen many volunteers extend their coaching, management and administration skills to the higher levels of the game. We are proud of those who can take their skills and talents to the next stage of rugby!

We warmly welcome all our new & returning players, volunteers and supporters at the Norths Rugby Club, right in the heart of PORIRUA!
